What is Kefir?
Kefir is a cultured, fermented milk drink, originally from the Caucasus mountains. It is similar to yogurt – but thinner in consistency, making it more of a drink. It has a slight sour taste and a slight ‘fizz’ due to the natural fermentation process. The length of the fermentation time determines the flavour. The closer to the end of the shelf life, the more fizz it’ll have. Kefir is a good source of calcium and contains gut-friendly bacteria. It’s a good source of protein, vitamins and minerals.
